This time around Phase combines speaker-rattling techno sounds with a series of bizarre beatless excursions. Out-last shudders like a creaking door or a cannon ball falling down a flight of stairs, while Leap Into The Deep is as subterranean and subaquatic as its title would aptly imply. Compared to some of his recent material, as a whole, "Emergence EP" is a little more leftfield. Phase does sacrify some dance floor credibility, and DJ friendliness is traded in for some mind boggling ambient passages, which despite applying highly intricate and accurate sound trickery, unfortunataly just don't go anywhere. From a technical view point, the production vaults are bar none, as one comes to expect from mr. Burchett.
